How to order something in a more polite way.

How to request or order something in a more polite way.

Imperative sentences can be used to give orders but it will not sound more polite. Instead of using an imperative, you can use following sentences:

Would you mind…?

It is the most polite way of requesting or ordering something.

would you mind…? + Noun or  ING .

Would you mind standing in a queue?
Would you mind closing the window? (Please close the window.)
Would you mind buying that cake? (Please buy that cake.)
I was hoping…

This is another way of making a request or order in a more polite.

I was hoping + you/she/he/we/they/ + could + Verb

I was hoping you could buy me that shirt.
I was hoping you could spare me a few minutes.
I was hoping you could help me with cooking.
Do you think you/she/he/we/they/ + could + Verb

Do you think you could type these letters for me?
Do you think you could clean the room?
Do you think you could help me with the housework?
I would like you to + Verb

Such sentences are used to make a more direct request. It is like an order than a request.

I would like you to complete your homework.
I’d like you to do the shopping for me.
I’d like you to pick up the children from school.
I’d like you to help me with the housework.
I want you to + Verb

It is same as giving an order to someone.

I want you to finish this report by tomorrow.
I want you to wash the car.
I want you to leave my house.
I want you to wash the clothes.
Kindly share this with others if you feel it’s helpful.
