Expressions used for Making Request

1. Give me your pen sir.
2. Will you lend me your pen sir?
3. Can you lend me your pen sir?
4. Might I borrow your car?
5. Would you lend me your car?
6. Please give me your eraser.

Use of Would and Could for expressing request.

1. Would you deposit my application at the bank?
2. Would you accompany me to the hospital?
3. Would you be kind enough to inform me about his health?
4. Would you count these notes?
5. Could show me the way to hospital?
6. Could you lend me 1000/-?
7. Could you inform me about my marks?
8. Could you lend me your sofa set on Sunday?

Expressions used for making complaints

1. I am sorry to say this but….

Examples:

1. I am sorry to say this but your son was throwing stones at my dog yesterday.
2. I am sorry to have to say this but I think we need to try another approach to this problem. 
3. I am sorry to bother you but I think you need to revise your lessons. 
4. I am sorry to bring this up but your dog has bitten my son. 
5. I think you might have forgotten to submit the report on time. 
6. I regret to bring to your notice that you haven’t paid the rent for this month so far. 
7. Don’t get me wrong but I think we should concentrate on our exams as of now. 
8. There may have been misunderstanding about what we expected from your firm. 

Expressions used for persuasion.

1. Do have a cup of tea. 
2. You should have a cup of tea.
3. How about buying a car?
4. Why don’t you buy a car?
5. I am sure you would buy a car soon. 
6. Perhaps you would be interested in buying a car. 
7. Do you think I must buy this car?
8. Why don’t you change your dress?
9. Do have some breakfast before leaving.
